Fortnite to introduce new downtime feature for future updates
Fortnite downtime is a necessary evil. The game is online 24/7, but they do have to take some breaks to implement massive updates. These usually happen following a season’s end, especially when a new chapter is about to begin. These can be lengthy, as there have been a few instances of day-long downtimes. That leaves gamers without the option of doing anything in the game, but Epic Games may be tweaking that just a bit in the future. Per the latest leak, there may eventually be something players can do during downtime.

Latest Leak Suggests Change to Fortnite Downtime
According to renowned leaker ShiinaBR, Epic Games is attempting to make using Unreal Engine Fortnite Editor during downtimes possible. Thus, according to this Fortnite leak, creators who work hard on those impressive Creative maps would be able to continue working. If the Battle Royale modes are down to reset for an update, that doesn’t really apply to Creative map makers. This would give them the chance to take advantage of the time when there is nothing else to do in the game.
The leak also indicated that Epic wants to implement this between July and September, so it may not quite be available for the next seasonal update. However, in the future, this is supposed to be in the game. There will likely still be nothing to do for regular players who aren’t creating maps. However, as changes come, that may be implemented down the line. Since this is a pretty substantial change that’s aimed for a release sooner rather than later, it has probably been in the works for a long time.
This is a leak, so it’s not guaranteed. Even if it has a tentative release date, it’s not confirmed until it shows up. Epic Games may also announce it themselves. There have been plenty of leaks, including one about the Item Shop, that have been dated but never came to be. This also only applies to map creators. So, regular players will have to wait for a change to Fortnite downtime in the future.
