Fortnite x Lionel Messi could be coming per latest leaks

Fortnite might be adding arguably the greatest football player ever to the Icon Series: Lionel Messi. Per leaks, the soccer legend and current Inter Miami FC star (as well as recent MLS MVP) could be on the way, joining a long and iconic list of athletes who have graced the metaverse. While Messi doesn’t necessarily have a strong connection to the game, he is reportedly on the way. Here’s what we know.

Lionel Messi Leaked for Fortnite Icon Series

According to iFireMonkey, there are expected to be two new Icon Series skins added to the game soon. One is rumored to be Lionel Messi because of a string of text found in the code with his last name in it, while the other remains under wraps. The leak indicates that the skin will show up in the shop on December 13 at 7:00 pm EST when it cycles new cosmetics in.

Per the leaker, here’s what the pricing is expected to be:

Outfit 1 (with LEGO Style, Back Bling, and Emote) – 1,800 V-Bucks
Outfit 2 (with LEGO Style and Back Bling) – 1,500 V-Bucks
Pickaxe 1 – 800 V-Bucks
Pickaxe 2 – 800 V-Bucks
Emote 1 – 400 V-Bucks
Bundle: 2,800 V-Bucks

There will be plenty of cosmetics, though it remains to be seen exactly what they will be. They will tie in with the Messi skin, though. Messi will join countless other athletes who’ve made it into the game, including:

LeBron James
Harry Kane
Patrick Mahomes
Giannis Antetokounmpo
Chloe Kim
Neymar Jr.
Marco Reus
Lewis Hamilton
Naomi Osaka
Shaquille O’Neal

There are other Icon Series skins, like Ninja, Bruno Mars, or J Balvin, but the above are all the other superstar athletes in the game. Keep in mind that this is a leak, so all information, especially the pricing and the expected release date for Messi, is to be taken with a grain of salt. Until it shows up in the game or is announced by Epic, which could happen soon, it’s unofficial. In a similar fashion, the Hatsune Miku skin is also expected soon.
