After more than seven years, the beloved Zapotron is back in Fortnite. If you want to use it, you’ll have to try out OG mode, which is currently in Chapter 1 Season 2. The fan-favorite item is back but only for a limited time, so you should take advantage of it while it’s here. Here’s how to do just that.

As mentioned, the gun is only available in Fortnite OG. You won’t find it in chests in Battle Royale or Zero Build right now. It remains vaulted there. Additionally, the gun is only available this weekend, so after the next couple of days, it will return to the vault.
To get it, you will need to search chests and supply drops. It can drop from both of them, but it is Legendary. That makes it a rare drop from a chest. Supply drops can only give Epic or Legendary rarity guns, so the chances are better if you open one. It is officially part of the OG loot pool or the time being.
To help this, Zone 1 now has four drops instead of two. Zone 2-12 now can have up to two drops, so supplies should be more frequent. You will need some RNG luck to get the gun, though. There’s no guaranteed drop anywhere on the map, and OG doesn’t have NPCs who can sell it to you.
It has been nerfed a little bit. The base damage was dropped from 50 to 28 per leaks. It also uses Heavy Ammo like a sniper now instead of energy cells. The charge damage multiplier was buffed, however, from three times to six times.
The Zapotron is a high-tech energy rifle that functions as a sniper. It can be fired normally or charged up to fire a single powerful shot. You can do a lot more damage and that shot can potentially deal damage to multiple enemies. It is similar to the Rail Gun, which was also a sniper that could be charged. This gun, however, does not go through builds like the Rail Gun.
