G2 vs T1 – MSI 2022 Rumble Stage Re-Match Breakdown
Rumble Stage is here and the hype cannot be any higher!
T1 will attempt to beat G2 in a re-match this Monday. With both teams stomping the competition in the group stage, the first duel was a banger for the ages. G2 hit the LCK Champions with the LEC meta and easy to use champions.
Can T1 counter them in the re-match?
T1 vs G2 – MSI Rumble Stage Matches
Both T1 and G2 demolished their respective groups, winning all the matches they have played . On one hand, we have T1 with the fastest average game duration out of all the teams participating (23:13), showing how much of a gap there was between them and the rest of group A.
T1 keeps impressing with their insane macro and proactivity, pushing their leads over and over with simple plays and coordination. Zeus and Faker have been extremely consistent, with Oner also pulling out unorthodox picks like Kindred and Vi.
The only small question mark on the T1 lineup is Gumayusi: we have seen him make mistakes during the early game with his positioning and trading. While it wasn’t a big deal against the wildcard teams, will this trend continue in the Rumble Stage ? Personally, I don’t think it will, but it is still something worth keeping an eye on.
So far, T1 has mainly played around its mid laner and top laner, giving Zeus favorable matchups and good lanes for Faker to play around. Keria is the member with the highest KP, showing that T1 likes to move together on the map to impact all three lanes. As a result, Gumayusi is left to play weakside.
Similarly, G2 has had a similar playstyle so far in this MSI Rumble Stage, with, however, a lot more focus on Caps. He has been without a doubt the superstar of the G2 lineup, playing 8 unique champions and being super proficient at all of them. Aside from him, though, the big surprise was Flakked, who’s on a 21.0 KDA and showing his growth alongside Targamas in this 2022 season. BrokenBlade and Jankos have been the super consistent players, with no great signs of weakness so far: the Rumble Stage might tell us if they have any.
What’s impressive about G2 is the fact that they have played different team compositions throughout the group stage. They weren’t afraid of showing their cards, but at the same time, this might put pressure on their opponents since they wouldn’t know what G2 would bring to the table. Champions like Ahri, Pyke, who are great at making picks will be highly contested, as well as other mages like TF and Leblanc.
G2 vs T1 MSI Prediction
With that being said, the first series between G2 and T1 went down to how both teams drafted. T1 bet on a sizable early game lead, while G2 played for a mid-game teamfight. The game was decided in a single crucial Baron fight that gave G2 the stability back to execute their draft.
Coming into Game 2, we need to see which team makes adjustments first. G2 can change up their style easily, but can T1 draft late-game? – Once again 50% of the match will be decided in picks/bans.
Both teams are great at playing what’s comfort for them and I think that it will depend almost entirely on execution. G2 might pull something out of the box that would get T1 confused, but it might be better to use it when it really matters, especially after winning Game 1. While the first game was important for momentum, the second will likely be a test of strengths and limits before the best-of series.
Based on what we have seen so far, I think G2 has the edge. It will be a long game and I’m not expecting a stomp game like in groups, so pay attention to the map duration and total kills. Below you can find all the best odds for the series, offered by GG.bet:
- Winner: G2 (1.23x)
- Total kills: over 25.5 (1.62x)
- First Dragon: T1 (1.74x)
- Map Duration: over 28.5 (1.96x)
- First Blood: T1 (2.02x)
