Assassin’s Creed Shadows Reveal Set For May 15
Ubisoft has officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Codename Red, the first Japanese Assassin’s Creed game, is named ‘Shadows’. On May 15, Ubisoft plans to reveal the game with a cinematic trailer, showcasing the culmination of years of work. This is one of the most hotly anticipated Assassin’s Creed games in history, with Ubisoft finally allowing players to assume control of a samurai-like character in Japan.
It also seems as though this will be the first-ever Assassin’s Creed game not released on the ‘old generation’ of consoles, which means the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It’s expected that it’ll be available on PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S only. This is likely because it’s the most technically advanced Assassin’s Creed game to date, boasting what promises to be an enormous open-world map and a bounty of exploration opportunities.

With a simple message posted on Twitter, Ubisoft revealed to the world that the next AC game is Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Earlier this year, rumours surfaced claiming that this was the game’s title – and now it has been confirmed:
In a separate leak, several prices and key details were revealed about Assassin’s Creed Shadows. It was claimed that there will be two expansions released for the game, which will be priced at around $25 each. There will also be microtransactions in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, with there being an optional welcome bundle that can be purchased, along with additional currency packs – the typical ‘Helix’ credits that have been found in AC games for years.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows is set to be a dual-protagonist title, and it’ll operate similarly to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, combat-wise. There are reportedly advanced base-building mechanics in AC Shadows, as well as a dynamic weather system and a day-night cycle as standard. It isn’t known to what level customisation will run through the game, but given recent titles, it’s easy to see it being a substantial concept.
One of the leads is based on a real person, which marks a franchise first. It’s believed that this character is based on a real samurai who once existed, a former African slave by the name of Yasuke. All of this information will be made clear when the Assassin’s Creed Shadows trailer drops on May 15.
