The Complete Dragon’s Dogma 2 Romance Guide

Like any good RPG, Dragon’s Dogma 2 features plenty of romance. As a sequel 12 years in the making, the game had a lot to deliver on, and in the romance department, Dragon’s Dogma 2 gets it just right.

Still, if you’re new to the game, you might not know where to start. To help, we’ve put together this complete Dragon’s Dogma 2 romance guide, so you know exactly who you’re able to start your in-game relationship with.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Romance Options

Technically, most NPCs in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are romance options. This is because the game works on an Affinity system (more on that soon), which means you can make any NPC like you, up to a certain point.

However, only two of these characters are “romanceable” in a traditional RPG sense, with a love storyline for you to follow throughout the game. Here are your choices:

Ulrika

You’ll meet Ulrika at the very beginning of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and you can begin to grow your relationship with her after the quest “Trouble on the Cape.” As you increase Ulrika’s Affinity, you also need to complete her full set of quests. These are:

  • Readvent of Calamity
  • Trouble on the Cape
  • Home is Where the Hearth Is
  • Tale’s Beginning
  • In Dragon’s Wake

After completing this set of quests, you should head to the docks in Harve Village. There, you’ll find Ulrika and trigger her Dragon’s Dogma 2 romance scene.

Wilhelmina

If Ulrika isn’t quite your type, then perhaps Wilhelmina is exactly what you’re looking for. Wilhelmina can be found at the Rose Chateau Bordelrie in Vernworth, although her romance can’t begin if you finish the main quest, “Feast of Deception.” Like Ulrika, Wilhelmina then needs you to complete a series of side-quests for her before the romance becomes available. These are:

  • An Unsettling Encounter
  • The Stolen Throne
  • The Phantom Oxcart
  • Every Rose Has Its Thorn

It should be noted that “Every Rose Has Its Thorn” is a time-sensitive quest (three days to complete), so you can actually fail Wilhelmina’s romance if you aren’t vigilant. After you’ve completed this quest, if your Affinity is high enough with Wilhelmina, you’ll get her Dragon’s Dogma 2 romance scene.

Does my character’s gender matter for romance in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Nope! No matter the gender of your Arisen in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you’re never locked out of a romance storyline as a result, so you don’t have to worry about that.

How to build Affinity in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Raising Affinity in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is extremely simple. Too simple, perhaps. To make an NPC like you more, you simply have to shower them with gifts. Each character will have their own likes and dislikes, so you can’t just hand them any old junk. To find out a character’s preferences, simply head to the NPC Logbook to discover more.

It’s as simple as that! With Ulrika and Wilhelmina, completing their quests is necessary to romance them, but you’ll still need to raise their Affinity, too. Once an NPC reaches the necessary Affinity level, their actions around you will change, such as:

  • They’ll blush around you
  • They might come to your home
  • They will bring you gifts
  • They will give you discounts if they’re a merchant

With all of this in mind, you’re finally ready to start your Dragon’s Dogma 2 romance journey!
