Frustratingly addictive automation sim Factorio has been teasing its Space Age expansion for almost a year, but the update finally got a solid release date.
A combination of RTS and City Builder game, with elements of Tower Defense thrown in for good measure, Factorio is a unique and highly popular game that has a lot of appeal. But when does the new expansion for the game release?

As per a new blog post by the Factorio team, Factorio: Space Age is set to release on Oct. 21, 2024.
New details about the expansion were also added, such as the $35.00 price tag (the same price as the current base game).
Factorio: Space Age will kick off right as the original Factorio concludes, with players successfully launching a rocket into space. Players will be able to launch themselves into space, travel between worlds, and discover new materials.
The expansion will feature four new locations to build your factories including giant Space Platforms, the volcanic world of Vulcanus, the freezing and lightning-storm filled world of Fulgora, and the bio-fauna infested swamp world of Gleba. Each new location will have unique challenges, as well as potentially new adversaries to deal with. Space Platforms, for instance, will require you to destroy and harvest Asteroids as they threaten to destroy your entire factory.

Beyond this, new game mechanics, such as Elevated Rails, and Quality tiers for items, will completely change the base game. Elevated Rails will add a new dimension to the existing rail systems of Factorio, allowing players to create multi-level intersections, and seamlessly cross over structures and other obstacles.
Quality will mean that every item, entity, and piece of equipment now has five possible qualities, ranging from Normal to Legendary. The higher the quality, the greater the bonus. This means, you’ll now be able to greatly optimize your factories. You’ll also be able to filter by quality, ensuring only the best equipment is used.
The release of Factorio: Space Age will also represent the release of a new 2.0 update to Factorio, a free upgrade for all users. This will add smarter worker robots, new rails, a remote view, improvements to circuits and train controls, a new fluid system, and new terrain generation for Nauvis.
