Fallout 76 Has Passed the 20 Million Player Milestone

Fallout 76 is something of a rags-to-riches story. It was released in 2018 to a woeful reception, with fans worldwide begrudging the empty, lifeless world of Appalachia that was presented to them in the game. However, Bethesda Game Studios knuckled down, brought in the assistance of third-party studios, and before long, the game came alive. It was turned around in no time at all, and today, it’s a solid title that fits neatly into the Fallout universe.

It was recently revealed by Bethesda Game Studios that Fallout 76 has surpassed a mega-sized milestone: 20 million players. Since the Fallout TV show was released on April 10, the Fallout franchise has been exploding in popularity – and a lot of that growth has been aimed at Fallout 76.

Highly Populated Apocalypse

Fallout 76 is the first and only multiplayer-focused title in the Fallout series. It’s able to class itself as one of the best MMORPGs online today, but it has been a tough road to get to that point. For a couple of years, Fallout 76 was something of a laughingstock of a game, and even the most die-hard Fallout fans refused to give it the time of day. Now, thanks to a vast array of updates and expansions, Fallout 76 is a perfectly good game that’s well worth exploring.

In April, Fallout 76 hit new records in terms of player counts. In one day, it secured a peak player count of one million gamers as fans of the television series flooded the platform.

On Twitter, Bethesda Game Studios revealed that since the game was released in 2018, it has pulled in more than 20 million players. That’s a monumental milestone, and it shows remarkable growth – in December, it was reported that the lifetime player count sat at around 17 million users.

There are still plenty of features that players are crying out for, such as crossplay mechanics, more areas on the game’s base map (coming soon), and for some promised features to be delivered. For instance, users are asking for a higher tier of legendary weapons, C.A.M.P. pets, and even mounts.
