FFXIV PvP Community to Host One Last Tournament Before Dawntrail

While all FFXIV players are looking forward to Dawntrail, one group is celebrating the revival of their community with one last incredible PvP tournament. Revival Rivals, a final high-level Crystalline Conflict tournament before the release of the new expansion, is being held by the FFXIV PvP Revival group.

The past two years have been transformative for the PvP community within Final Fantasy XIV, with the introduction of the new Crystalline Conflict game mode in April 2022, and even an official PvP Regional Championship event held by the developers across 2023.

Endwalker, the current expansion which released late in 2021, has seen a surge of PvP players and interest, and the community is set to celebrate it with one last hurrah.

Revival Rivals: Trail Before Dawn FFXIV PvP Tournament

From June 15 to June 16, multiple teams will compete in Revival Rivals, a tournament that may well be the last opportunity for high-level tournament PvP before the release of FFXIV Dawntrail.

Revival Rivals will feature top teams including 2023 Crystalline Conflict Regional Championship winners Pitch Black, (better known as Wolfas) and PNC: Global Cup II and Primal Premier II winners the Guangdong Tigers. Those names might not mean much to the layman, but consist of multiple Top 30 ranked Crystalline Conflict players across several Data Centres.

The event will be sponsored by small businesses within the Final Fantasy XIV community, contributing to a not insignificant $3,000 prize pool.

Revival Rivals will be streamed live on on PvP Revival’s Twitch channel. Full details of the event, including sign-up for interested teams, can be found on the event’s official website.

Final Fantasy XIV PvP has a niche but dedicated following within the highly-popular MMO. PvP Revival, the organizers behind the Revival Rivals event boasts over 38,000 members on its Discord, with thousands more following their social media.

For many years prior to the current expansion, the FFXIV PvP scene seemed splintered, with unranked dueling, Frontline, Rival Wings, and The Feast game modes splitting the attention of the community.

With the aforementioned release of Crystalline Conflict in 2022, the FFXIV developers Square Enix appeared to push for a more active and involved esports scene, hosting the first Cystalline Conflict Regional Championship in 2023. This, and a transformed PvP reward system that saw players incentivized to play any PvP game mode at all to unlock rewards, created a renaissance for the community.

Revival Rivals will feature some of the best to ever do it, using job actions that might not make the cut come the release of Dawntrail.
