The wait is finally over-the Ghost of Yotei release date is set! Exclusively for PlayStation, the long-awaited Ghost of Tsushima sequel was officially announced in the PlayStation State of Play September 2024 showcase. Ghost of Yotei launches us 300 years ahead of Tsushima’s action.

Ghost of Yotei is one of the most anticipated games this year, and while it tells a completely new story with a new protagonist, Atsu, the DNA of Tsushima runs deep. Think open-world exploration, cinematic storytelling, samurai swordplay-and then crank up the emotion and intensity. Atsu’s journey is a brutal tale of vengeance set in the hauntingly beautiful land of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido).

Meet Atsu and the Yotei Six

Sixteen years before the game’s events, Atsu’s entire family was slaughtered by a ruthless gang known as the Yōtei Six. She was left for dead, pinned to a burning ginkgo tree with a katana. Now, she’s returned with the same blade-along with a list of names: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and their leader, Lord Saito.

The recently released trailer, The Onryō’s List, gives us our first glimpse at these targets, along with stunning Ezo landscapes, new allies, and a unique gameplay mechanic that lets players relive fragments of Atsu’s tragic past.

Freedom and Honor in the Open World

Ghost of Yotei builds on Tsushima’s open-world game formula by giving players even more freedom. You can choose the order in which to hunt the Yotei Six, track bounties, or train under weapon masters to unlock new skills. From brutal duels to peaceful campfire moments under the stars, Ezo is alive with contrast.

Sucker Punch is clearly aiming to deliver a worthy follow-up to Ghost of Tsushima. The revenge-driven tale of Atsu promises heartache, grit, and honor.

As for a PC release? Nothing’s been confirmed just yet. But if Sony’s recent trend of porting their major exclusives to PC is anything to go by, there’s a good chance Ghost of Yotei will eventually make its way there too, just not at launch.
