GTA 5 is Back on Xbox Game Pass and PC Users Can Grab it Too
At long last, gamers have a good way to play GTA 5 again. With GTA 6 coming soon (reportedly 2025, but we’ll see about that), it’s a great time to revisit the latest game in the franchise before a new one replaces it. However, finding an old game can be difficult, though there are countless versions for different platforms and console generations available at this point. The easiest and cheapest way to do it is on Game Pass, which finally has the Rockstar title again.

GTA 5 is Officially Back on Game Pass
On April 15, Microsoft made gamers everywhere quite happy by adding GTA 5 back to the service. This is not the first time it’s been on there, though. It was originally on the subscription service in 2021, but that was exclusive to Xbox consoles. That also only lasted for four months before it was removed again, so it was a short-lived and limited chance to play one of the most acclaimed games of all time.
Then, it returned to service in 2023. Still, it was not on PC. Now, two years later, it’s on the subscription service for Xbox and PC, so all gamers who subscribe can play it. It’s the biggest and one of the best games in the franchise. Game Pass costs a monthly subscription fee, but you get games like Fallout 4, Hollow Knight, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and now GTA 5 on it without having to pay the $40, $50, $60, or even $70 to own the game.
You are subject to the whims of Microsoft, though, as evidenced by the adding and removing of GTA 5 (one of the best games of all time) all those years ago. For now, you have the option to play it. It’s a great time to do so. This is likely intentional, but GTA 6 is expected to come out this year. If nothing else, it’ll be here by sometime next year. It’s a perfect time for Rockstar to drum up interest in the franchise again, and that’s what they’re doing here.
