It was a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment. But at the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct , they briefly teased Silksong. It was the first confirmation that the game was coming. Nintendo confirmed that it would be out in “2025,” which sadly doesn’t give much. 2025 is a third over almost.
That release window is likely going to end up being quarter three or four in 2025, meaning it’ll be out sometime between July and December. In all likelihood, December sounds a lot more realistic. There’s been no mention staggering of release dates for PC console versus PC console, so expect it to come out on the same day for all platforms whenever it is released.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is going to be one of the most widely accessible games in recent memory. It’s coming on every platform. Obviously, it was confirmed for the Nintendo Switch 2 , and it will be virtually compatible with the original Switch as well. With that in mind, it’s also coming on last-gen consoles like the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, which hardly get any games anymore. Of course, current-gen platforms are included as well. PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S are getting it.
The game is listed as still in development. Silksong comes from Team Cherry, the indie developer who made the first game. It’s a Metroidvania that will presumably be very similar to the first, but without a lengthy game trailer or much info at all, it’s hard to predict exactly. It is also considered a fighting game and an action-adventure game.
