Gray Zone Warfare is a brand-new shooter that launched into early access on April 30. There are a few teething issues that players might experience when first investing in Gray Zone Warfare, and one of the peskiest problems is a frame rate issue. Some players may experience stuttering, frame rate drops and issues pushing their FPS too high in this ambitious, open-world shooter. In this guide, we’re going to document how to fix the Gray Zone Warfare frame rate issues you might be having.

How to Boost Frame Rate in Gray Zone Warfare

Per the developer, MADFINGER Games, there are a few things that you can do to fix any outstanding frame rate issues in ‘GZW’. It all comes down to enabling the correct settings in your game’s options menu – but first, you’ll need to make sure that you meet the minimum required specification. This is a demanding game, and only the best hardware will cut it when it comes to running with a high frame rate and ‘epic’ textures, shadows, and lighting effects.

Here’s what you need to do to fix frame rate issues in Gray Zone Warfare:

If you’ve got an Nvidia GPU that’s a 30-series card or older, you’ll need to use FSR with Frame Generation switched on. In the Super Resolution settings, make sure you’re using Balanced or Performance. For those using an Nvidia GPU that’s a 40-series card, you’ll need to use DLSS to get the best frame rate in Gray Zone Warfare. Pair that with DLSS Frame Generation and you’ll get more frames than you would have without the setting enabled.

If you’re using an AMD GPU, things get a little easier. You’ll just need to switch on FSR, pair it with Frame Generation, and set your Super Resolution to Balanced or Performance. That’s enough to fix your frame rate on Gray Zone Warfare.

It doesn’t end there, of course. There are a few general tips you can follow to optimise your PC and fix Gray Zone Warfare frame rate issues:

  • Make sure your hardware drivers (CPU and GPU) are up to date through Radeon Adrenalin or Nvidia GeForce Experience
  • Check that you have no background applications sucking your resources up
  • Avoid running any third-party overlay applications
  • Consider turning down your in-game effects and graphics levels to a lower quality
  • Lower your FPS target
