How To Make Banners in Minecraft
To make any banner, you must first start at the crafting table. To make a plain one, put six wool of the same color and a stick into the user interface. It doesn’t matter the color, as any color can be made into a banner. This locks in the base color of the banner, though. From there, you can place a banner into a loom. This allows you to customize it and add colors and patterns to it.
There are different indicators on the loom that tell you which section of the banner you’re editing. There is a top, middle, and bottom third. Additionally, there is also a left, right, and middle third horizontally. When you’re operating in one of these areas, the dye color you add to the banner will show up there. For example, a blue banner will have a red stripe across the top if you place red dye in that sector in the loom.
You can do this multiple times. If you want to split the top third into three different colors, you can. Just remove the banner at each step and add the appropriate colors to each sector to get the desired result. You can also do this for sections in the crafting table, but this requires a lot more dye and is far less customizable. In the crafting table, certain items will also affect the pattern:
- Vines
- Bricks
- Creeper Head
- Wither Skeleton Skull
- Oxeye Daisy
- Enchanted Golden Apple
Banners can also be found organically. Plenty of unique banners spawn all across a Minecraft world. They can be found in the following places:
- End Cities
- Woodland Mansions
- Pillager Outposts/ Pillager Captains
- Savanna Villages
These can often be customized further, though the Pillager Banner cannot be placed in a loom. The possibilities are almost limitless, as you can pretty much make any pattern you can conceive of as long as it mostly centers on blocky Minecraft designs.
