How To Unlock Free Fantasia From FFXIV Dawntrail

With the release of Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail and the new graphical update that transforms the way FFXIV will look, players have been offered a new Fantasia as a chance to change the way their character appears.

Phials of Fantasia are an item that allows players to alter the appearance of their Warrior of Light, and the new addition is to make sure all players are happy with the way their Warrior of Light looks under the new graphical settings. If they’re disappointed, they can change things up.

Luckily, this isn’t a difficult thing to find, especially if you know where you’re looking. But just to make things simple we’ve put together a guide below to find the Fantasia quest.

How To Get Your Free Fantasia In Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail

To find the new Fantasia quest just head to Ul’dah – The Steps of Thal (X:13.4, Y:9.2). You’re looking for the NPC called the Medicine Merchant. Speak to this NPC and accept the quest “Bottled Fantasy.” Upon completing this quest you’ll receive a phial of Fantasia.

To complete this quest, you’ll need to be at least level 17, and have completed the quest “The Scions of the Seventh Dawn.” Other than that, there’s no restrictions.

To use the Phial, you’ll need to head to a safe location (a city or settlement) and remove all gear off your character except your main-hand weapon/tool, then log out. You can then log out and use the character edit option which will allow you to change the appearance of your Warrior of Light in Dawntrail.

Fantasia Quest and Changes in FFXIV Dawntrail

Dawntrail has made a number of changes to FFXIV’s long-standing Fantasia system. Firstly, the addition of another free Fantasia. This brings the total number of free Fantasias available in FFXIV to two, as you also receive one for completing The Ultimate Weapon quest at the end of A Realm Reborn.

Secondly, after using a Fantasia, there’s now a cooldown period, which will allow you to continue making changes for up to 60 in-game minutes after you first use it. This means if you’re not happy with your Fantasia changes, you can still alter them so long as you don’t spend too much time waiting around.
