The Early Access phase aims to gather player feedback and refine the game’s features, including massive real-time battles and cooperative gameplay, ahead of its full release.
The plot is this: you’re a time traveler from the future who gets sent back to 15th century England during a massive civil war. But instead of blending in like some undercover knight, you bring modern-day weapons and tech into the mix. Assault rifles, SUVs, even drone strikes… all in a world of castles, swords, and catapults.

On the surface, it might look like a medieval war sim with a twist, but it’s way more than that. Kingmakers is being described as a sandbox strategy game, where you control one soldier in third-person, but also manage massive armies and influence the battlefield in real-time, like in every other RTS game. It combines action, strategy, and simulation in a way that not many games have tried before. You can jump into the fray with machine guns or step back and direct your troops from afar.
Right now, Kingmakers is confirmed for PC, and it’ll be available via Steam and the Epic Games Store since its release date. There’s no official word on whether it’ll hit consoles like PlayStation or Xbox, but never say never-if the game go big on PC, there’s always a chance it gets ported later on.

That said, the devs haven’t mentioned any plans for console releases just yet, so if you’re gaming on a console, you might be sitting this one out for a while. It’s also not confirmed for Steam Deck, though considering how chaotic the game looks, it might be a bit too demanding and drain your Steam Deck battery very quickly.
If you’re on PC and have the rig to handle large-scale battles with AI armies and real-time destruction, you’re in the clear.
Here’s a question that’s been floating around the community: Will Kingmakers have multiplayer? The answer is yes-at least partially. The game will include co-op multiplayer, which means you and your friends can jump into the time-traveling madness together and coordinate your attacks.
