This PlayStation Exclusive is Headed to Nintendo in an Unexpected Way
It was just announced that an all-new LEGO game is surfacing, based directly on one of the most popular PlayStation-exclusive franchises ever made. During the Summer Game Fest showcase, Guerrilla lifted the lid on LEGO Horizon Adventures, a miniaturised version of the open-world, post-apocalyptic series that debuted on PlayStation 4 in 2017. The announcement itself didn’t turn too many heads – but what did was the fact that it’s coming to Nintendo Switch when it’s released later this year.
LEGO Horizon Adventures was talked about at length before the official announcement, courtesy of earlier leaks that kickstarted rumours about the project emerging. Now that it has been announced in full, Horizon fans are preparing to dive into another adventure with Aloy – this one being represented in LEGO form and looking utterly adorable. But for the first time ever, the Horizon franchise will grace PlayStation, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
Going on an Adventure!
Horizon Zero Dawn was released in 2017 and quickly became regarded as one of the best games of the generation. In 2022, Guerrilla followed up with Forbidden West, one of the most drop-dead gorgeous games ever created and a perfect showcase of the power of the PlayStation 5. For a few months, there have been rumours circulating that Guerrilla is working on a multiplayer-based Horizon game set in a ‘different portion’ of the universe, but now it seems that another Horizon game has been kept under wraps.
LEGO Horizon Adventures plants players at the heart of a fresh experience, introducing cooperative elements for the first time in franchise history. It’s expected to be a cross-platform title, but some fans of the series have already found something to complain about, as it seems LEGO Horizon Adventures is ‘skipping’ PlayStation 4. That makes no sense to some, as the game can’t be technically demanding; it can run on the Nintendo Switch, after all.
Here’s the trailer that showcases what you can expect from LEGO Horizon Adventures:
It’s unmistakable at first blush, with the world of Horizon being perfectly replicated in a LEGO-themed universe. It’s sure to be a winner of a title when it’s released later this year, regardless of which platforms it’s rolled out on.
