In the season 1.5 patch fix, the developers also implemented many hero adjustments and bug fixes like players getting stuck in the terrain and many more.

On the cosmetics front, Marvel Rivals also introduced a new feature where players can exchange their leftover Chrono tokes for Units, letting players buy premium skins for free. A free Groot skin has also been added to the game, which can be obtained by just playing games and completing missions.

This was the first season of Marvel Rivals. On December 6 2024, Marvel Rivals launched globally with massive hype in the gaming community, crossing 10 million players in the first 72 hours and hitting 20 million downloads by December 17, 2024.

Breaking common trends, the game had launched with a huge roster of 33 heroes. During this pre-season of Marvel Rivals, players were greeted with plenty of free skins for Jeff the Land shark skin, Iron Man, and more. Some new time-limited game modes were also added to the game which were both fun and action-packed gameplay.

Marvel Rivals All-Seasons – How Has the Game Changed?

Marvel Rivals has had overwhelming support from the gaming community since its launch. Since then, Marvel Rivals devs have added multiple patch updates to fix and improve the game regularly.

From season 0 which crossed 20 million downloads in just a few weeks, to the ongoing Season 1.5, Marvel Rivals is continually delivering thrilling content to its players. While many thought that Marvel Rivals’ hype would fall following a peak launch, not only the game has retained the larger player base, but it has also hit an unprecedented number of 40 million active players during the Eternal Night season.

The developer has maintained a clear and firm stand during this whole time such as not introducing role queue even after huge community uproar. The justification behind this was the need to prioritize player creativity and flexibility in team composition. Players are already witnessing a growing 3 healer meta in Ranked Mode during defense rounds which already shows that the dev team was not completely wrong.

However, it doesn’t mean there weren’t hiccups along the way. Even after a hugely successful launch, NetEase laid off an important part of the Marvel Rivals Development Team responsible for level and gameplay mechanics citing operational challenges.

Even so, with a strong dedication to the community and the regular updates, Marvel Rivals is inching closer to become the most favorite hero shooter game in the world. It will be interesting to see how its esports scene picks off with the Marvel Rivals Invitational tournament.

Taking full advantage of its vast source material, the Marvel Comic universe, NetEase is expected to shower the community with an abundance of Marvel characters, unique gameplay features, and first of kind updates ready to uplift the gameplay experience even higher.
