Before its official launch in December 2024, Marvel Rivals had released its Closed Alpha Test. This was the first time a certain number of players could try out the game for the first time. This closed alpha test was launched a year ago in May 2024. To celebrate one year since that day, Marvel Rivals has announced a new event known as Galacta’s Gift. They have also relaunched the Season 0 Battle Pass for a limited amount of time.

When Marvel Rivals was first announced, many believed it to be a bootleg version of Overwatch. Seeing past games by Marvel Games, the hype for this game was next to none.
When the Closed Alpha test was released in May 2024, many people got to experience this game. Within a matter of days, people’s opinions about the game changed due to the unique mechanics in the game. Many would credit this alpha test as the reason for the initial hype for this game.
When the alpha test was out, only a handful of heroes were available to play. The one aspect of the game that fans loved was the authenticity of each Marvel Hero’s gameplay compared to their comic counterparts, from Wolverine running like a wolf to Spider-Man swinging using his web shooters. Within the game, each season is a new content cycle with new cosmetics and heroes.
The upcoming Galacta’s Gift event will be available in Marvel Rivals in the May 15th Update. This update will also show new skins for the heroes, Namor and The Punisher. Below is a list of rewards that players can receive from this event:
The Costume coin can be used by players in the exchange shop. Within the shop, players can exchange this coin for a costume for a hero that was playable during Season 0 of Marvel Rivals.
Within Marvel Rivals, unlocking a Battle Pass has been seen as a value for money. A significant reason for this is that if bought, it never expires within the game.
Players can unlock rewards from future seasons even after a season is completed. Marvel Rivals will re-release the Season One Battle Pass to celebrate the first anniversary. Season 0 was the first season that was released within the game back in December 2024. Currently, Season 2 of the game is ongoing and the hero Emma Frost being introduced in the game.
The Marvel Rivals Season 0 Battle Pass will be available from May 15 to May 29. The battle pass will be available in-game for 590 Lattice. There will only be free rewards if players buy the Luxury Battle Pass in-game. In the future, older passes will likely be available in-game. This might occur only once in two seasons and will be priced at a minimum of 20% more than the original price.
Recently, Marvel Rivals announced a new mode, Giant-Size Hive Mind, with its season phase releasing on May 16.
