Trial Chambers are a new structure which will appear in Minecraft 1.21. These challenging chambers will be filled with the Tricky Trials of the update’s namesake. They’re also filled with new blocks, challenging enemies, and rewards.

If you’ve already got a world generated, don’t worry – you can still access Trial Chambers. These will just be in chunks that haven’t already been generated.

The Breeze

The Breeze is a new enemy exclusive to Trial Chambers. Spawning from one of the Trial Spawners, Breezes will blast you backwards with powerful wind attacks. They’re very similar to the Blaze, but these creatures use the power of air rather than fire.

Wind Charges

Wind Charges are a new item that copies the ability of the Breeze, and are crafted from the Breeze Rods, an item dropped by Breezes. Wind Charges knock mobs and other players back when thrown and deal three hearts of damage. They can also prevent fall damage.

The Bogged

The bogged is a new skeleton variant mob that spawns in Swamps. The Bogged shoot poison arrows that deal damage over time. You can also use Shears on Bogged to harvest mushrooms from their heads. Bogged will spawn on any level so long as there’s a Swamp biome on the surface. This means you can find Bogged in caves and spawn them for farms.

Vaults

Vaults are the ultimate reward for completing Trial Chambers. Unlocked by collecting Vault Keys, Vaults will unlock items and rewards for players, including some of the new items. Vault Keys can be obtained by defeating all the enemies spawned by a Trial Spawner in a Trial Chamber.

The Mace

The Mace is a new weapon added in 1.21. This is the first new weapon added in many years, and deals increased damage if you attack while falling. The Mace has three new unique enchantments:

  • Density: This increases the damage dealt by the mace when dropping from height
  • Breach: This is an anti-armor enchantment that allows you to penetrate even the strongest armor.
  • Wind Charge: This enchantment sends your opponent flying, just like the Breeze’s attack.

The Crafter and Auto-Crafting

Perhaps the biggest new addition is the Crafter. The first auto-crafting block added to vanilla Minecraft, the Crafter allows you to craft any item in the game automatically using redstone devices.

As part of the update, Minecraft is receiving dozens of new Copper and Tuff blocks. The Copper blocks evoke an industrial feel, while the Tuff blocks have a mesoamerican feel. All of these blocks can be found in the new Trial Chamber.

The final new features to be added to Minecraft 1.21 is the first new paintings added to the game in over a decade. The 20 new paintings are a brand new way to decorate your base. These paintings evoke the classic look of Minecraft with some new editions. There’s even a lot of references to classical paintings, so it’s perfect if you’re an art fan!
