Shadow of the Erdtree is Too Difficult, Gamers Complain
Shadow of the Erdtree was released on June 21 to what looked like a remarkably positive reception. It caused Elden Ring to skyrocket to 600,000 concurrent users on Steam alone, and it became the talk of the town as it topped the table on Twitch. However, now that enough players have gotten to grips with the super-sized expansion, many are learning that it’s simply one of the biggest challenges they’ve ever faced.
To that end, Shadow of the Erdtree is landing mixed reviews on some platforms, despite the game stealing the title for the highest-rated RPG DLC ever. On social media, disgruntled players are voicing their concerns, with some streamers downing tools in protest at this incredibly challenging expansion that many have waited several months to receive.
Where’s the Line?
Elden Ring is regarded as one of the toughest games ever made. It pits players against unforgiving bosses that can often kill them with a single hit, and they’re forced to learn attack patterns and fight meticulously to secure even a single victory. It’s almost a rite of passage, much like the Dark Souls games were in their day. However, the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC is ruining that image slightly, with some gamers complaining it’s impossible to complete.
On Twitch, the popular streamer known as Asmongold quit the DLC after a few hours, stressing that it’s ‘too hard for it to be fun’.
By way of response to the consensus that the DLC is too hard, publisher Bandai Namco suggested users simply go away and upgrade their Scadutree Blessing to increase their attack and defence abilities.
