Stormgate Reveals Third Faction, The Celestial Armada
Stormgate is a RTS revival title that we’ve already chosen as one of the most important upcoming esports games of 2024, and the game just got a major update in the form of a third faction: The Celestial Armada. Unveiled on June 9, the new faction rounds out Stormgate’s three-way conflict.
Joining the Infernal Host and the Human Vanguard, becoming the third pillar in the rock-paper-scissors of Stormgate, The Celestial Armada evoke high-tech and angelic vibes that are really interesting.

While you might dismiss the Celestial Armada as Stormgate’s answer to the Protoss of StarCraft, this take on the third-race for the RTS seems to transform the playstyle far more than the scions of Aiur. If the Vanguard is the “standard” way to play Stormgate, The Celestial Amarda flips the game on its head.
The army and base are entirely mobile, with structures able to be beamed down anywhere via the huge Ark Ship. The Celestial Armada seem like a full proxy army, who are designed to float in, build turrets, then leave if things get too hot.
Their somewhat delicate units are supported by shield batteries and high mobility. Their tanks and vector ships fly nimbly between human structures and units, and cut down infernal demons in droves.
Beyond this, the ability to automatically mine without units, and to have the power to turn any of you buildings temporarily into a turret seems to make the Celestial Armada a counter to passive players. Leave the Armada unchecked, and they can quickly scale out of control.

Alongside The Celestial Armada, Stormgate developer Frost Giant Studios also revealed the early access release date. If you’ve pre-ordered Stormgate, you’ll be able to play the game as early as July 30. This is great news for those who’ve been waiting years to try this title for themselves. The RTS renaissance is truly in full swing!
