Stormgate has reignited the passion of gamers for the once thought dead genre of real-time strategy, but when is the game’s release date? The strategy game, which has been in development for several years, has gone through multiple open betas and other tests where some players were able to get their hands on it, but a full release has been lacking.

That is until later this year when Stormgate will receive a full release into early access on Steam. But when exactly is that?

Stormgate will release on Early Access on August 13, 2024. However, on the Steam Store Page, that date is currently listed as July 30. That’s not incorrect, but not all players will be able to access the game on July 30.

To play the game on July 30, you’ll need to have pre-ordered the game, either on Steam, or as a backer of the game’s Kickstarter. For those players, you’ll receive the title on July 30. Alternatively, you can wait until August 13. Stormgate is described as free-to-play, and the FTP version will launch on Aug. 13.

Is Stormgate Free-To-Play?

The short answer is, Yes, Stormgate is Free-To-Play. But the free-to-play aspect hasn’t yet released. The was available for those who pre-ordered or backed the Kickstarter on July 30, but won’t be available for everyone else until August 13. That means you should set your watches, and prepare for some Stormgate free-to-play in mid-August.

On launch, Stormgate will feature three factions: The Vanguard, The Infernal Host, and the recently announced Celestial Armada. This rock-paper-scissors of RTS action will see a technologically advanced human faction take on brutal demons, and other-worldly angelic creatures for control of the universe.

With a focus on multiplayer, the game features three-player co-op, versus modes, and other classic RTS features. The game will be free-to-play with some premium features such as cosmetics. Those who pledged to the Kickstarter will also receive additional features and in-game upgrades.

The game is described as a classic RTS with modern features, such as up to date graphics, seamless multiplayer with roll-back netcode, and stutter-free gameplay. A new take on the storied gaming genre, Stormgate is aimed at creating the perfect experience for RTS fans old and new.
