Are We Anywhere Close to The Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date?

If it feels like we’ve been waiting forever for The Elder Scrolls 6 release date, it’s because we basically have. Bethesda first teased the game way back in 2018 with a short, vague teaser trailer that showed us… well, not much. Since then, it’s been a whole lot of silence, and we got updates that aren’t really updates.

So, when is the game coming out? Well, as of right now, Bethesda hasn’t locked in a The Elder Scrolls 6 release date yet. However, there are a few clues floating around that give us a rough idea of the timeline.

The Elder Scrolls 6 Release Date

During the FTC suing Microsoft fiesta, it was revealed that The Elder Scrolls VI is not expected to launch until at least 2026. It was later confirmed that the game was still in “early development” at that time. Fast forward to now, and while development has surely progressed, there’s still no sign of a release window-meaning a 2026 or even 2027 release seems likely.

Given that Starfield was the big focus for Bethesda in 2023, it’s safe to say Elder Scrolls 6 won’t have an exact release date anytime soon. So, if you’re planning your RPG schedule, you might want to get comfy with some other fantasy titles while you wait.

Expected platforms

If you’re hoping to play The Elder Scrolls 6 on your PlayStation 5… sorry, but you might be out of luck.

Since Bethesda was bought by Microsoft in 2021, most of its future titles have been positioned as Xbox exclusives, and all signs point to The Elder Scrolls 6 being the same. While nothing has been officially confirmed, leaked documents and statements from Xbox execs have strongly suggested The Elder Scrolls 6 release date will be for Xbox and PC only.

So, unless something changes drastically, expect to see The Elder Scrolls VI on:

  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC (via Steam and/or Xbox app)
  • Xbox Game Pass (Day one-because of course)

Sorry PlayStation folks-this one’s probably staying in the Microsoft ecosystem.

Is Elder Scrolls 6 worth the hype?

At this point, The Elder Scrolls 6 is more than just a game-it’s a legacy title. It’s been over a decade since Skyrim first launched, and it’s still one of the best MMORPG games today. Expectations are sky-high, maybe even unreasonably so.

The truth is, no one knows if it’ll live up to the hype, but Bethesda’s track record with world-building and RPG mechanics gives fans plenty of reason to be optimistic. Let’s just hope we don’t end up with another “wait ten years, get another teaser” situation.

For now, all we can do is wait, speculate, and replay Skyrim for the 14th time. Maybe this time with 500 Skyrim mods installed.

Just a small correction, but Skyrim is NOT an MMORPG. It’s not even multiplayer.
