Vanillaware’s 2024 RPG Unicorn Overlord has proven to be a sleeper hit. Like any great RPG, Unicorn Overlord provides plenty of romance options for you to choose from over the course of the game, with protagonist Alain able to develop relationships with a huge number of NPCs.

Unicorn Overlord Romance Guide – Building Rapport

If you’re going to romance a character in Unicorn Overlord, you need to begin by building Rapport. There are a few ways to do this, but first, they need to be part of your unit formation. This allows them to gain Rapport with Alain. After this, simply follow these three steps consistently, until they have maximum Rapport with Alain:

Share meals with your chosen character at the Tavern.
Take part in combat with them in your unit formation.
Hand them gifts. Each character prefers different gifts, so find out what they like for the biggest boost in Rapport!

After you’ve reached the maximum level of Rapport with your chosen Unicorn Overlord romance option, you’re ready to move on to the next step.

Unicorn Overlord Marriage Guide

With maximum Rapport, you can finally move on to the final romance step in Unicorn Overlord – marriage. This step is pretty straightforward once you’ve hit maximum Rapport with your chosen Unicorn Overlord romance option.

First things first, you need to acquire the Ring of the Maiden. After all, what good is a proposal without a ring? To get the Ring of the Maiden in Unicorn Overlord, you need to complete all the main quests in Elheim. This begins with “The Winding Wood,” and finishes with “The Witch’s Word.” After this is done, Alain will be given the Ring of the Maiden, and the game will begin the “Unicorn and Maiden” quest. This is how you know you’re almost at the finish line.

With the Ring of the Maiden in hand, make your way to the Unicorn Altar in Palevia Town. You’ll then need to return with your chosen Unicorn Overlord marriage option, at which point you’ll be able to complete the Rite of Covenant. With these complete, you’ll be married in Unicorn Overlord!
