Why Do Players Go AFK?
There’s all kinds of reasons to be AFK, some planned, others less so:
- Getting up to stretch, get something to eat, drink or use the bathroom. We’d recommend taking a quick break like this every 20-30 minutes, as it’s the key to be a healthy gamer!
- Sometimes people get a phone call, or if they live with others, are asked to do something away from the game.
- Players often go AFK while waiting for a friend to join or for an event to start. Or if you’re playing a tycoon game, there’s a lot of idle downtime.
If you need to step away from the game, for whatever reason, its worth letting people know and type “AFK” in the chat. For competitive games its not ideal, whether you tell them or not, but at least people know. Understanding and using AFK properly keeps the game smooth for everyone.
Now you know what does afk mean in Roblox, and multiplayer games in general. It’s just a quick way to say you’ll be away from the game for some time, and probably won’t answer right away. Whether you’re taking a break or multitasking, letting your fellow players know you’re AFK is always a good move. Your friends or teammates will be able to cancel or postpone the thing they were planning, until you come back from being AFK.
Now you’re in the know, so use it next time you need a moment away. Happy gaming!
