Will Gray Zone Warfare Be On PS5 or Xbox?

Gray Zone Warfare is an electrifying new shooter that’s in development as we speak by MADFINGER Games. It’s an open-world tactical FPS with extraction shooter elements, and early opinions of the game have been overwhelmingly positive. There’s a lot to unwrap from Gray Zone Warfare’s development cycle, as so much is being packed into this ambitious product. It’s penned to only be available on PC for now, but will Gray Zone Warfare be on PS5 or Xbox when it launches in full?

It could be a game-changer if a Gray Zone Warfare console release is published by MADFINGER. With its Escape from Tarkov-like elements, it would be the first (successful) extraction shooter-style game to make its way to console platforms. While others have come and gone – or failed to gain traction – there are high expectations that Gray Zone Warfare could disrupt the scene epically.

So, will Gray Zone Warfare be on PS5 or Xbox? Let’s find out.

In December, the creative director working on Gray Zone Warfare expressed an interest in bringing the game to consoles. He said that the team at MADFINGER ‘is planning it’ but the game needs to be stabilised on PC first. When Gray Zone Warfare is released, it’ll be in an early access state, and the creative director, Marek Rabas, stressed that the early access product could extend to PS5 and Xbox platforms.

Gray Zone Warfare won’t be released on consoles initially, but there’s a strong possibility it’ll be available further down the line.

It’s always tough for games like this to be ported to consoles. It’s one of the big blockers that’s preventing Escape from Tarkov from landing on PS5 or an Xbox console. There are so many control elements and inputs that a controller simple can’t handle it – and if it does, some inputs have to be sacrificed or cleverly worked around. Also, the nature of the game’s mechanics just means that using a keyboard and mouse is much more fluid and efficient.

With that being said, MADFINGER is on a spree of productivity of late and has a strong interest in porting Gray Zone Warfare to console-based platforms. It’s a case of ‘watching this space’ and seeing what unfolds when Gray Zone is more mature.
