Microsoft Promises Big Things For Xbox At Gamescom 2024

Gamescom 2024 is shaping up to be a monumental event, welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world. Recently, the likes of PlayStation and Nintendo confirmed that they won’t be attending this year’s showcase, but Microsoft has stepped up in a big way. In a recent announcement, the tech titan confirmed that Xbox will have a bigger presence at Gamescom than ever before, which is hugely promising for the gamers attending the show in August.

Following the recent Xbox Games Showcase, it was made obvious that there’s a lot in the pipeline for the company. Out of all the game reveal events so far in the last month or so, the consensus is that Xbox ruled the roost, showing better trailers than Sony, Nintendo, or Ubisoft. From the 21st to the 25th of August, Xbox will be front and centre at Gamescom, which is a huge win for fans of ‘Team Green’.

A Wealth of Games

Gamescom is the place to be for any gamer or industry worker. It’s an annual event that started in Cologne, Germany in 2009, and it has now expanded to cover LATAM and Asia. It’s frequented by hundreds of thousands of visitors, and during the showcases’ Opening Night Live ceremony, millions of people tune in to see the latest announcements and reveals from the world of gaming. It’s a hugely prestigious event, and this year, it’ll be dominated by the Xbox brand.

In a post on social media, it was confirmed that the following games will appear at Gamescom 2024 at the Xbox exhibition:

  • Age of Mythology: Retold
  • Avowed
  • Ara: History Untold
  • Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred
  • Diablo Immortal
  • The Elder Scrolls Online
  • Fallout 76
  • Towerborne
  • World of Warcraft: The War Within

More games are yet to be announced, and it has already been confirmed that Activision and Blizzard will be making an appearance. The hope is that there will be a behind-closed-doors look at Black Ops 6, but that’s being borderline classed as a fool’s hope at this point. The game isn’t set to be released until October 25, and showing it in August would be nothing short of a miracle.

This could be the biggest Gamescom event since pre-COVID days. Over the last few years, the showcase has been recovering and gaining traction, and with the latest news from Microsoft, the hype is higher than ever before. Regardless of PlayStation’s decision to skip Gamescom for the fifth year in a row, it should be a show to remember.
