HCS London Major: Pools Ready To Kick off The Major

From May 31 to June 2, the Halo Championship Series London Major, hosted by Quadrant, will unfold in the United Kingdom. It’s the first time a Halo Major has been played in the UK for many years, and it joins a stacked deck of esports tournaments taking place in the region through 2024. With a $250,000 prize pool and the best teams in the HCS making an appearance, it’s set to be a phenomenal event for all involved.

Recently, the pools were published for the opening stage of the tournament – beyond the open bracket, that is. Each match is set to be an intense best-of-five showing, and only the top three teams in each group will advance into the championship bracket.

The Halo Championship Series has been a little turbulent in the last year or two. Issues with viewership have presented concerns, and there have been some shake-ups behind the development scene that have put the future of Halo in general under question. For the most part, there’s a dedicated and die-hard community supporting the future of the HCS, and that’s all that matters for now.

Here are the groups facing off at the HCS London Major:

Pool A

  • Spacestation Gaming
  • Proton Gaming
  • BH3 Esport

Pool B

  • OpTic Gaming
  • Quadrant
  • Sentinels

Pool C

  • FaZe Clan
  • Complexity
  • Cloud9

Pool D

  • Shopify Rebellion
  • Into The Breach
  • still deciding

All eyes are on OpTic Gaming at this stage. The team narrowly missed out on the trophy during the recent Arlington Major, being pipped to the post by Spacestation, the favourite to win this Major. There’s a home buff for Quadrant, the UK-based esports organisation owned by F1’s Lando Norris, but will that be enough to swing the team into a momentum-laden streak? FaZe Clan still has plenty to prove too, given that the team won the HCS World Championship mere months ago and stands as the reigning champion.

That being said, the result at last year’s World Championship event was barely separated between FaZe, OpTic, and Spacestation. It’s expected that this T3 setup will be replicated at the end of the HCS London Majoor.
