Amouranth Is Now A Co-Owner of Wildcard Gaming

Kaitlyn ‘Amouranth’ Siragusa is one of the most controversial content creators in the world. She has long been the source of scandal on platforms like Twitch on account of her ‘adult-themed’ streams that have often seen her don a bikini and prance around the screen. That’s the first-blush interpretation of Amouranth, though – below the surface, she’s a shrewd businesswoman and entrepreneur with millions of dollars to her name.

Recently, it was revealed that Amouranth had acquired a significant ownership stake in Wildcard Gaming, a Houston-based esports organisation. It’s a new playing field for Amouranth, who historically has dabbled in a range of businesses including gas stations, energy drinks, and inflatable pool toys. The latter investment makes the most sense given the content she produces on Twitch, but in the last few years, she’s poured finances into a diverse array of verticals.

For the average viewer, it might not make sense why Amouranth has opted to invest in an esports team, but the popular streamer – who has more than 6 million followers – assures us she has always had an interest in the industry:

‘I’ve always had my eye on esports. I have admired what other creators like DisguisedToast and MoistCrit1kal have done with their own organisations. In my conversations with organisations and research, Wildcard felt like the best opportunity to help shape a growing organisation.’

The activations based on this deal are starting soon – Amouranth is taking part in the watch parties based on the Rainbow Six Pro League later in 2024. She’ll be a visible arm of Wildcard Gaming, leveraging her immense following to bring a new audience to the organisation. As esports grows in popularity and value, more ‘unexpected investors’ than ever before are throwing money at organisations and events. Typically, we see a lot of sports personalities enter the gaming industry, such as Robert Lewandowski or David Beckham.

Amouranth’s co-ownership of Wildcard Gaming does make sense to some extent, but in many ways, it’s just another investment in another business, and that’s all there is to it. There’s a mutually beneficial relationship that will exist between both Amouranth and Wildcard, but esports fans shouldn’t dismiss the investment because she ‘knows nothing about esports’. She doesn’t necessarily need to to invest in a growing esports team, right?
