Esports World Cup x Amazon – official e-commerce partner
According to the release, the partnership will see Amazon being featured across the Esports World Cup through a special Hub on the company’s Saudi and AUE websites, featuring special offers and all the information about the esports event such as live streams. Ticket buyers from the platform will also get access to Amazon discount codes.
The partnership comes a few days after the start of the Esports World Cup, the global competitive event that will take place for nearly two months in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The event made headlines when it announced a $60 million combined prize pool for 21 different esports games, with several games getting multi-million prizes to share among the participants.
On the other hand, however, the Esports World Cup has drawn quite some controversy from criticism due to its ties with the Saudi Arabian government and its human rights record.
EWC expanding its portfolio
Amazon joins the ever-increasing list of commercial partners for the EWC. Aside from the e-commerce brand, the Esports World Cup Foundation signed deals with hardware brand LG UltraGear, social media platform TikTok, Pepsi, Unilever, Adidas, Aramco, and many others.
“Partnering with Amazon is a significant milestone for the Esports World Cup,” said Mohammed Al Nimer, sales director at the Esports World Cup Foundation. “Together, we are crafting an unparalleled experience for gaming fans, merging the excitement of live esports with the ease of online shopping.
“Like the EWCF, Amazon understands the value of esports as next-generation entertainment for audiences in the MENA region and beyond. I’m pleased that local gamers will have a dedicated online space to connect with the Esports World Cup and watch this historic event unfold in Riyadh.”
