According to a release, LG UltraGear will be equipping over 990 monitors for the EWC in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The brand will use the OLED gaming monitor 32GS95UE across all competitions.
Additionally, the two partners will set up interactive booths and activations at the event for its attendees, allowing them to test the monitors directly. There will also be coaching sessions managed by Gen.G Global Academy, with the chance of winning prizes.
LG expands yet to another esports competition
The hardware brand is no stranger to the esports space. The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) as well as the Korean esports organization Gen.G have both formed strong partnerships with the LG brand. Moreover, the monitor brand was already present at last year’s Gamers8, the predecessor of the Esports World Cup.
“We are thrilled to have LG UltraGear, a pioneer in gaming technology, as a Main Partner of the Esports World Cup,” said Mohammed Al Nimer, Sales Director at the Esports World Cup Foundation. “The EWC is the ultimate platform for brands like LG UltraGear™ to connect with a passionate and expanding audience at the heart of competitive gaming.”
LG joins a list of worldwide brands such as German sportswear brand Adidas, Saudi Telecom Company (stc Group), the soft drink brand Pepsi, and chocolate brand KitKat.
The EWC has received criticism from teams and fans across the world due to the backing of the Saudi Arabian government and its human rights record. The competition is set to kick off at the start of July with week 1.
