Paul Bellezza and his new role in the League of Legends team

According to his updated company bio, Paul Bellezza will be “fostering a creative and supportive culture…dedicated to making League [of Legends] the top competitive game for generations.”

First joining the company in 2006, Bellezza was among the first developers to work on Riot Games’ MOBA title. Throughout the years, he has worked on everything within the game, ranging from champions to skins and much more. He previously was the Director of Creative Game Production for League Studio, working on projects for the Netflix series ARCANE and mobile MOBA League of Legends: Wild Rift.

Riot Brightmoon changes role

Bellezza will be replacing Jeremy ‘Brightmoon’ Lee going forward, after he initially announced he would leave the role back at the end of last year. Brightmoon’s new role is still yet to be unveiled as he will be going on a sabbatical before returning to the company with the new role.

“I am deeply honoured and ecstatic to be coming home to the game I know and love in order to help make amazing experiences for you all. I am at your service. For now, I will be busy catching up on all things League. See ya next time Summoners…oh wait…uh….we changed that. See ya players!” he said.

Riot Games has been making several moves both on the game side but especially on the esports side of things, announcing major changes for both the League of Legends esports ecosystem as well as the VALORANT esports scene. Starting in 2025, LoL esports will have a total of 5 regions, with North and South American regions (LCS, CBLOL, and LLA) reunited into one Americas League. All the other minor regions, instead, will be merged into one single league.
