Robert Lewandowski Joins G2A as First Global Ambassador

It was just announced by the Founder and President of G2A Capital Group – Bartosz Skwarczek – that Robert Lewandowski has joined the company as the brand’s first global ambassador. This news was broken by Skwarczek on LinkedIn along with a statement of positivity about the partnership. Earlier this week, I had the fortunate opportunity to fly to Barcelona to meet with Bartosz and Robert and learn about this ambassadorship and what’s next for the G2A ecosystem.

Per Skwarczek’s comments, Robert Lewandowski will ‘be the face of global marketing campaigns and many brand activities.’ Like other brands and their ambassadors, Lewandowski will help to bring a new audience to G2A’s door and unite two verticals while doing so. There’s a lofty ambition at the heart of this partnership to fuse traditional sports and digital sports – esports – and in Skwarczek’s words, Robert Lewandowski is ‘the perfect fit’ for G2A.

In the statement released on LinkedIn, Bartosz Skwarczek – who founded G2A fifteen years ago – spoke highly of Lewandowski and his professional prowess:

‘Today I’m proud and excited to announce that G2A.COM and Robert are joining forces. I admire his determination, passion, consistency, and family-driven values. That’s why I feel that this partnership is a natural step for G2A.COM. Robert is not only one of the greatest football players, but also a gamer, making him the perfect G2A.COM ambassador and a link between digital and traditional sports. Together we want to unite these two similar activities making them available for everyone and anywhere.’

Speaking at a media event in Barcelona, Bartosz expanded on the deal:

We believe in closing these two worlds, joining them, uniting them – sports and esports, physical and digital, and who could be better than Robert? He is an amazing athlete, and at the same time, he’s a gamer. For us, it resonates very much, and Robert joins our 1000 influencers that we’ve been working with along our long journey – 15 years, including the biggest ones, like PewDiePie in the gaming world. And Robert now is our top ambassador and the first global ambassador for G2A.’

I was also lucky enough to catch up with Robert Lewandowski, one of the most legendary Polish soccer players and one of the top competitors at FC Barcelona. We had an insightful conversation during which we compared traditional sports athletes and digitally-focused esports athletes. He told me about his love for Call of Duty and how he got started all those years ago on a Commodore 64. These days, he likes to relax with games in a hotel room when he’s touring the world with FC Barcelona.

G2A.com remains the world’s largest digital marketplace for games and other content, and signing Robert Lewandowski as a global ambassador is just the next logical step on a long and lucrative path.
