Team Gullit acquired by Team Liquid
Global esports organisation Team Liquid has acquired Dutch esports brand and EA FC (formerly FIFA) academy Team Gullit for an undisclosed fee. The Team Gullit players will be transferred over to Team Liquid, and the organisation’s staff will continue working under new ownership.
Team Gullit is among the most well-known names in competitive EA FC, with several World Cup and eChampions League winners. The brand is also known for its connection to the legendary Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit, who founded the team in 2018 and later went on to act as its ambassador and promoter of esports.
The brand took great pride in being the world’s first independent EA FC academy, focusing its efforts on scouting, young talents and education rather than on acquiring high-profile players.
The new acquisition puts Team Liquid at the forefront of EA FC esports, and is a continuation of a partnership that was first announced in 2024 for the Esports World Cup when Team Gullit and Team Liquid jointly entered the competition and their player Manuel Bachoore finished Top 8 in EA FC. In the future, Team Gullit players will compete as Team Liquid, but some hints of their former organisation will remain.
For example, the jerseys players will wear on events feature subtle orange accents that hint to the colour of Team Gullit, as well as the national colour of the Netherlands, the home country for both Team Liquid and Team Gullit.
In addition, former partners of Team Gullit, such as Philips OneBlade and other brands, will remain on board as partners of the Team Liquid EA FC roster. The Team Gullit management noted that the extensive infrastructure that Team Liquid has will help them further scale their operations further and continue growing their fanbase and engage with their community.
Over the last 7 years, we created a juggernaut in the EA FC scene. We won every possible trophy and created a huge fanbase. I’m very pleased Team Liquid acquired the organization because this is a step in the right direction towards long-term domination of the game. Team Liquid’s infrastructure, resources, and experience will help achieve that.
