Vitality Boss Denies Plans to Acquire Bigetron Outright as Rumors Ramp Up

Team Vitality have pushed back on growing speculation that they are planning to fully acquire Indonesian esports giant Bigetron Esports, after social media chatter reignited questions about the future of the Bigetron by Vitality partnership.

The rumours picked up pace after a post from Bigetron hinted that “something’s cooking” with Vitality, leading some fans to assume a full takeover was on the horizon.

Those assumptions were quickly shut down.

Vitality Shuts Down Takeover Talk

Vitality’s Corporate Director of Global Operations, Danny Engels addressed the speculation directly, making it clear that a full acquisition is not on the table at this time.

According to Engels, Vitality fully intend to keep the Bigetron by Vitality identity in place and continue working under that banner. While the two organisations are planning more joint projects — particularly on the marketing side — there is no immediate plan to drop the Bigetron name.

“We’ll continue to use and honor Bigetron by Vitality, but we are preparing more collabs on Marketing and especially looking towards EWC again, where the rules require us to fully rebrand to Team Vitality for EWC at least,” he explained. “Long-term, [it’s] still a possibility to completely rebrand, but for the time being the BTR brand is way more powerful in SEA and we are getting SEA fans more and more comfortable with the Vitality brand through activities like these.”

Esports World Cup branding adds to confusion

Part of the confusion comes from the Esports World Cup. Engels confirmed that at the Esports World Cup, teams are required to compete under a single global brand. That means Bigetron-linked rosters will appear as Team Vitality at EWC events.

While that has fuelled speculation of a wider rebrand, Vitality have been clear that this is a tournament-specific requirement, not a sign that Bigetron is being phased out.

Why Vitality Won’t Rush Changes in SEA

Bigetron remain one of Southeast Asia’s most recognizable esports names, particularly in mobile titles.

The Indonesian organisation has built a huge following through years of success in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and consistent participation in MPL Indonesia, one of the most-watched regional esports leagues.

Despite the noise online, Vitality have made it clear that Bigetron isn’t being swallowed up — and any bigger changes, if they ever come, won’t be rushed.
