“It was sudden”: CS2 esports scene shocked as karrigan leaves FaZe Clan for Falcons

The Counter-Strike 2 esports scene was left shocked when it was announced that Finn “karrigan” Andersen was leaving FaZe Clan to join Falcons.
The long-time Counter-Strike veteran has been with FaZe Clan since 2021. Many believed the roster move was the result of some sort of drama, and the community was unable to make sense of it. Over the weekend, some started wondering if karrigan was kicked from FaZe Clan.
However, fellow FaZe pro Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken said that karrigan “wasn’t kicked.” He added that the move was “sudden,” leading to more questions about the situation. Some fans believed that Twistzz seemed salty and some wondered if karrigan had ditched the team himself.
One fan pointed out that Twistzz had turned down an offer from Falcons himself a few years ago. He stated in an interview that he had “morals” and refused to play for a Saudi Arabian team. Did he feel betrayed?
“karrigan destroyed Faze and now gets another opportunity,” one person tweeted.
“I just want FaZe back on top, with or without me”
FaZe Clan recently failed to qualify for the IEM Cologne Major, a huge blow for the team. This came after many underwhelming performances at Tier 1 events throughout the season, leaving in the ranking cutoff. While some have blamed karrigan, others felt that the team has been floundering since Håvard “rain” Nygaard left for 100 Thieves.

Either way, karrigan seemed quite defeated this season.
After an elimination from PGL Bucharest, karrigan stated: “I think it’s the first time where I have to consider where I am, in myself, in my life. These results are far [below] what I accept as a leader of this team, as a player who’s been in FaZe for a long time, so I understand.
“I have also told FaZe that if I need to step down, I’m ready to do that; they should not… There is something wrong right now. So if I’m stepping down, let’s do that. I just want FaZe back at the top, with or without me.”
The move to Falcons would bring karrigan and Maksim “kyousuke” Lukin back together. This could create some powerful synergy on the team, giving the Falcons the boost it needs. So far, the team has been getting a lot of runner-up finishes but no trophies.
“Falcons era incoming?” one fan questioned.
“karrigan knows when to leave a sinking ship. My GOAT,” another said.
Meanwhile, it’s unclear what FaZe Clan’s next move is.
