APA vs Summit: LCS Merger Could Do the Funniest Thing
Yesterday evening, Riot Games announced that they were changing the landscape of LoLesports forever. The changes would see a seismic shift in how the calendar works, including a new international event, a fifth region, and forming a new Americas League.
While there are many cool storylines to be built from this new merger, one storyline that many may have forgotten is the opportunity to see APA vs. Summit for the first time. Despite not playing in the same lane, no love is lost between the two players, and fans would be eager to see their respective teams face off.

This would happen through Riot’s new conferences for the Americas League structure in 2025. Two LATAM teams will be slotted between the two conferences, one going to the North and the other going to the South. Summit currently plays for Movistar R7, and while there is no guarantee he will stay on the team for 2025 or that R7 will play in North America, it is funny to think we could have this rivalry in the North Conference.
How the beef started
Team Liquid had a Worlds 2023 to forget. They embarrassed the region after falling 2-0 to GAM Esports and crashing out of the Worlds Swiss Stage without a single win to their name. In a now-deleted X post, Summit said, “There was nothing I could do with Ziggs one trick.”

At the time, APA was just a rookie who had been thrown into the fire to help save Team Liquid, which was not in a great place. This forced the mid-lane change during the summer split. Team Liquid was able to rally to the Worlds, but as mentioned above, their performances were poor.
Although Summit eventually deleted his Tweet, the damage had been done, with the LCS community understandably siding with APA. It was embarrassing for a veteran top laner, who also had a terrible World Championship, to go to social media and put the blame on a rookie who probably should not have been in that position to begin with.
It would be interesting to see Summit and APA’s teams compete against one another. APA has become a perennial trash talker in the LCS and there is no doubt he would have hilarious banter to throw Summits’ ways. Would you like to see Summit vs APA in the Americas next year?
