Kayle’s story in the LoL Empyrean skins line is one of sadness. For many years, she was seen as ignorantly different, while her twin sister, Morgana, pursued equality and justice. That meant Kayle would end up being the sole survivor of her realm. She blamed herself for being the last one standing, as some sort of punishment for being different. She now travels to different realms in tribute to her lost sister.

Kayle’s path towards immortality is a grey one, the death of her parents, and the disappearance of her master Zed have led her towards a life churning for as much control as possible. Immortal Journey Kayle was released in 2023 for League of Legends, and recently on the mobile version, Wild Rift. Personally, I love this version of Kayle, where she is a spiritual warrior, rather than the sadder version of herself trying to honor the life of her sister, Morgana.

Kayle is one of the more powerful champions in this skin line, and sees herself as the impartial judge in world affairs. Kayle only sees the world in black and white, which is a terrifying thought. She has joined the paramilitary, in which she sees her twisted vision realized.

The Sun-Eater Kayle skin has a story of madness, in which Kayle has been driven. She scorches the primordian sun and places the world in an eternal eclipse. This is far from the Kayle we have been accustomed to, whose life mission has been to pay tribute to her fallen sister Morgana. In a universe that was once bright, Kayle has turned it into darkness. Personally, I enjoy it when Riot takes a big leap of faith in a considered kind-hearted champion.
