Leblanc counters in LoL – the top three picks

Kassadin – the scaling counter

Kassadin doesn’t win against Leblanc early on but his chances of victory rise exponentially thanks to his scaling. He can neutralize and stay even against LB for the majority of the laning phase, allowing him to reach his spikes faster than in other matchups.

Vex – the evergreen counter

Vex is designed to counter champions with several dashes and Leblanc also happens to be one of those. She can neutralize most of the enemy’s combos and deal extra damage every time LB tries to get into a trade. This is one of the best Leblanc counters you can play in the game, regardless of the meta.

You will understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Make sure to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL so you always know what to pick in each game.

Galio – the Vex alternative

If you’re not proficient with Vex, Galio also does a similar job at punishing Leblanc’s aggressiveness. He has extra shields to protect himself and use his ultimate to protect allies across the map. Thanks to his passive and Q, he can also get good lane priority over the opponent to prevent her from roaming, which is one of LB’s main strengths.

Worst Leblanc counters

Yone – can’t catch her

Yone’s biggest issue against Leblanc is his inability to follow her during the trades. Unless the enemy messes up her trading patterns, Yone can only be a sitting duck. It gets better later in the game for Yone but Leblanc will still have too much mobility and get away from his wrath.

Xerath – too mobile for him

Xerath’s matchup against Leblanc is even worse compared to Yone. While the mid lane mage has long range abilities and can quickly push waves, he’s always at risk whenever he walks up in Leblanc’s range of action. This gets worse once LB unlocks her ultimate as she can use her mimic W to get double dashes. If you play Xerath against her, be aware it will be a tough matchup.

How do you counter Leblanc with the items?

When going up against Ekko, it’s recommended to stack a mix of MR and HP. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:

  • Bruisers: Maw of Malmortius, Kaenic Rakoorn
  • AD assassins: Maw of Malmortius
  • ADC champions: Maw of Malmortius, Wit’s End
  • AP champions: Banshee’s Veil
  • Tanks: Kaenic Rakoorn, Spirit Visage, Force of Nature

What Champion counters Leblanc?

The three best counters are Kassadin, Vex, and Galio. Other strong counters are Malzahar, Akali, and Diana.

Does Hwei counter Leblanc?

While Hwei can’t really match Leblanc’s mobility, he has enough long-range on his ability to punish her from a safe distance. It mostly comes down to Hwei’s ability to position himself and be aware of Leblanc’s combos around the skirmishes. If done well, Hwei should have an advantage over Leblanc.
