Lissandra counters in LoL – the top three picks
Lissandra is no longer a popular pick in the mid lane, but she still does a great job when put into certain team compositions. Her crowd control is tricky to deal with so learning which are her counters is important to get the edge in the mid lane matchup.
If you’re fairly new to the game, check out our guide on how counter picks work in League of Legends. You will understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Make sure to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL so you always know what to pick in each game.
Azir – the evergreen counter
Even though Azir doesn’t have kill potential early on, all he has to do is neutralize Lissandra and farm up. He will eventually outscale her and she won’t be able to do anything other than using her crowd controls. Azir will have more wave clear and more damage so it’s just a safe pick to count on.
Cassiopeia – locking her down
This matchup is a bit more skill based since it requires Cassiopeia to be able to hit her Qs consistently. Lissandra has more burst damage and the ability to shut down Cassiopeia, but the latter can fight back by using her own Miasma and Twin Fangs to heal up a part of the damage taken. Whenever Lissandra fails to one-shot Cassiopeia with one rotation of combos, then she will likely die.
Swain – outsustaining
This matchup can swing into one or the other’s favor during the laning phase depending on how the trades are done. That said, Swain has more sustain and once he unlocks the ultimate, there is basically no way for Lissandra to kill him. This pattern goes on later in the game, especially if Swain is ahead.
Worst Lissandra counters
Katarina – too much crowd control
If you happen to play against Katarina, the Lissandra player will rejoice. Thanks to two crowd controls and the ability to get away with her E, Lissandra will have no issue dealing with the assassin champion. You must have done something really bad to lose this matchup (or you got camped, which in that case, is not your fault).
Malzahar – can’t escape my engage
Even though Malzahar has plenty of ways to push out the minion waves, he can’t really stop Lissandra’s engage attempt. The spellshield can be broken with one auto attack or ability, and once Lissandra goes in, she will be able to lock down Malzahar. Avoid playing this matchup whenever possible.
How do you counter Lissandra with the items?
When going up against Lissandra, it’s recommended to stack magic resistance to lower her burst damage. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:
- Bruisers: Maw of Malmortius, Kaenic Rookern
- AD assassins: Maw of Malmortius
- ADC champions: Maw of Malmortius, Wit’s End, Mercurial Scimitarr
- AP champions: Banshee’s Veil
- Tanks: Kaenic Rookern, Force of Nature
What Champion counters Lissandra?
The three best champions are Azir, Cassiopeia, and Swain. You can also consider other picks such as Tristana, Lux, and Veigar if you’re proficient at them.
Does Ahri counter Lissandra?
Ahri has a small advantage over Lissandra. Not only does she have longer range abilities but she also has more mobility thanks to the ultimate. The laning phase is fine for both but Lissandra won’t be able to land a finger on Ahri later in the game unless she gets into range for Lissandra’s ultimate.
