Best LoL Arena team comps – increase your chances of victory

Here are the best team comps for LoL Arena mode:

  • K’Sante and Kayn
  • Trundle and Vayne
  • Fiora and Gragas
  • Illaoi and Swain
  • Shaco and Sion
  • Yuumi and Leona

We will be going over the main strengths and synergies for all these comps. Considering that most of these champions are highly contested and banned, we will also be including the best alternatives for all champions, so that you always know how to adjust in champion select.

You can also check out our individual champion tier list for LoL Arena, so you have an idea of which champions are strongest in the game mode. Without further ado, let’s jump right into it!

K’Sante and Kayn

The first one on the list is none other than the No. 1 pairing for the Arena game mode, K’Sante and Kayn.

To put it simply, K’sante and Kayn are two unkillable champions given the number of resistances and sustain the two offer. The former will become an incredible frontline and has great outplay potential with the ultimate. Kayn, instead, will just shred through enemies’ health bars while healing up. And if things get rough, he can always use the ultimate to regain all the health he lost during the fight.

While both champions theoretically need a few items to start dealing damage, LoL Arena allows them to get those items much earlier. Try to go for damage limitations in the initial rounds and wait until you get to three items: that’s when you should start pushing the pedal.

  • K’Sante alternative – Trundle, Gragas, Illaoi
  • Kayn alternative – Swain, Trundle

Trundle and Vayne

Trundle and Vayne are two of the strongest champions in the game mode currently so it’s not surprising to see them become a great duo. Vayne will take care of the damage output by kiting the enemies around while Trundle will tank most of the damage and block the opponents from jumping on Vayne’s face. As long as the marksman gets to survive the initial burst damage combos, she should be able to become unstoppable in every round.

The best thing about this duo is the fact that Trundle compensates for Vayne’s weak early game and once he falls off, the ADC will take over. Unfortunately, the chances of playing this duo are extremely low, given they have high ban rates at the moment. With that in mind, below you can find some of the alternatives to the picks.

  • Trundle alternative – Sylas, Gragas, Mordekaiser
  • Vayne alternative – Kayle, Volibear, Kayn, Brand

Fiora and Gragas

It might be a strange pairing at first, but Fiora and Gragas make a great pairing. Not only because the two champions have different damage sources but it’s also because one excels at bursting down targets while the other is stronger at extended fights, making them an all-rounded duo. Gragas also has lots of crowd control which always comes in handy in a skirmish-heavy game mode like LoL Arena.

The only downside of this combo is that Fiora requires good mechanics which is not always a given, especially mastering the parry (W). You will probably need a few rounds to get the hang of it.

  • Fiora alternative – Vayne, Gwen,Kayn
  • Gragas alternative – Brand, Vladimir

Illaoi and Swain

Illaoi and Swain are quite a similar duo to the one we saw earlier with K’Sante and Kayn. This is because it’s formed by a tanky frontline and a champion that deals lots of consistent damage with heavy sustain. The only difference is that these two have more hybrid damage at the expense of extra mobility. Unlike the aforementioned two, Illaoi and Swain do not have dashes outside of their flash. With so many walls and terrains in the game mode, it can be a big weakness in some lobbies.

Nonetheless, you should be able to find great success when fully mastering these picks. Wait to get a few items and you’ll see how scary this combo can be.

  • Illaoi alternative – K’Sante, Sion, Trundle, Sylas, Pantheon
  • Swain alternative – Kayn, Vayne, Gwen

Shaco and Sion

While it may be weird at first, Shaco and Sion are having insane numbers on LoL Arena right now. This is thanks to Sion’s tankability and Shaco’s slipperyness. By building AP Shaco, you just get all the fun by placing boxes. Have Sion guide the opponents towards them and you’ll see the HP bars explode.

The trick is to wait for the area to shrink and dodge fights early on. Enemies will need to kill Sion anyway so they are forced to move chase after him. Coordinate with one another and you will be able to win. It’s quite a unique combo, but it works.

  • Shaco alternative – Kayn, Senna, Swain
  • Sion alternative – Illaoi, K’Sante, Dr. Mundo

Yuumi and Leona

This is probably the weirdest combo I have witnessed so far in LoL Arena. Two supports winning lobbies is something I didn’t expect when the game mode returned at the start of December. Yet, here we are.

The reason why this is so broken is thanks to Leona’s augments: you will need to get at least two of them between Guilty Pleasure, Impassable, and Courage of the Colossus. With these and Yuumi’s healing, Leona will basically become unkillable. The enemies won’t be able to kill Leona (like never), and once the zone shrinks, she will continue to out sustain all enemies.

It’s a special (and underrated) combo currently that has no alternative (aside from Master Yi): it’s imperative to have both champions available in the lobby.

  • Yuumi alternative –
  • Leona alternative – Master Yi
