Quinn counters in LoL – the top three picks
Quinn is not that popular of a champion but it often shows up in the top lane on OTPs. Thanks to her range, she can abuse most of the melee top laners, harassing them from the moment the laning phase starts. There are, however, some counters that do beat Quinn: here are the best three.
If you’re fairly new to the game, check out our guide on how counter picks work in League of Legends. You will understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Make sure to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL so you always know what to pick in each game.
Malphite – too tanky for you
To put it simply, Malphite doesn’t give a damn about Quinn. He can tank most of the damage upfront and chase her down thanks to the Q’s slow. All you have to do is harass her with the ability and then wait for level six. At that point, you will have enough damage to burst her down with one combo rotation. Don’t worry if you can’t kill her: as long as she doesn’t get fed elsewhere on the map, you will get stronger the more armor you stack.

Irelia – it’s all about mechanics
Irelia is kind of a skill matchup, in the sense that it’s more up to the Irelia player rather than Quinn. The Ionian champion has plenty of dashes and ways to reach Quinn but the takeaway is that you must hit the E to get the double dash on her. Otherwise, Quinn will be able to disengage with her E. Remember this while playing the laning phase, and you should increase your chances of victory.
Karma – the meta counter
Karma is currently played in the solo lanes with the new itemization so it’s only natural that she gets to destroy Quinn. Since both are ranged champions, Karma will never struggle during the laning phase as she will just poke and harass with Qs. Unless you are bad at hitting skillshots, this is a free matchup.
Worst Quinn counters
Renekton – punishing immobile mages
Renekton-Quinn is the most common matchup and the most notorious counter. The lane is doomed from the start since Renekton should be zoned out of the minion wave. If Quinn is a decent player, which you should expect her to be, she will deny you as much minion XP and gold as possible. Even though you can dash and land a combo, she can just disrupt it with her own E. Just do your best to not let her take over the game.
Volibear – it’s all about the teamfights
You know the drill: it’s melee vs ranged matchup. Quinn will always find a way to draw distance from you and kite back in this lane. All you can do here is just farming from afar with your E and hope that the jungler can come and help you gank her. You are expected to lose minion farm and XP so avoid giving Quinn kills too.
How do you counter Quinn with the items?
When going up against Quinn, it’s recommended to stack armor early on to reduce her damage. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:
- Bruisers: Plated Steelpcaps, Warden’s Mail
- AD assassins: Guardian’s Angel
- ADC champions: Guardian’s Angel
- AP champions: Zhonya’s Hourglass
- Tanks:Plated Steelpcaps, Warden’s Mail, Randuin’s Omen
What Champion counters Quinn?
The three best champions are Malphite, Irelia, and Karma. You can also consider other picks such as Pantheon, Aatrox, and Mordekaiser depending on the team composition.
Does Darius counter Quinn?
It’s a skill-based matchup. Darius can chase after Quinn if he runs Ghost but he’s just given only one chance every like 3 minutes. If Darius can get a kill every time, he will win. Otherwise, the matchup should be in Quinn’s favor.
