While she’s a go-to pick in most games, Samira is an incredible carry in the right team compositions. Her all-in potential as well as AoE damage with her ultimate allows her to dish out more burst damage than a lot of ADCs, quickly shredding through the enemies’ health bars. Kog’Maw is one of the meta counters to Samira. Thanks to his long-range auto attacks and abilities, he can easily stay distant from Samira and not allow her to get into a position to burst him down. On top of that, Kog’Maw scales much harder with the itemization, making him even more oppressive later in the game.
Similar to Kog’Maw, Jinx achieves a similar thing thanks to her scaling. What makes Jinx a bit stronger early on is her ability to clear waves with her rockets. She loses out a bit in DPS compared to Kog’Maw but it’s a fair tradeoff you’re willing to make to get more lane priority in the first part of the game.

The main reason why Nilah is strong against Samira is her ability to gain more experience through her passive. It allows Nilah to level up at a much faster rate while having similar skirmishing power. If well timed, Nilah can also negate a lot of the incoming damage from Samira with her veil.
As someone who wants to fight in close combat, Samira is one of the few champions who beats Kai’Sa in both isolated and coordinated plays. Not only can she dodge Kai’Sa’s damage with her W, but she also hits her ability quite easily whenever Kai’Sa walks up to fight.

Aphelios shouldn’t be as bad as Kai’Sa, especially when Aphelios runs the green gun or the red one. That said, he can be easily shut down if caught by a crowd control Samira can follow up on. Her burst damage is too much for Aphelios to handle and survive.

The Twitch-Samira matchup is heavily dictated by the presence of supports as well as their ability to abuse the power spikes. Twitch usually has the advantage thanks to his ultimate and greater late-game DPS but Samira can easily shut down Twitch if given the opportunity. It’s a skill matchup but it should be in Twitch’s favor by a small margin.
