Tahm Kench came to League of Legends with a very innovative kit that allowed him to eat his allies and protect them from incoming threat. While he wasn’t that popular in solo queue, Tahm became powerful in pro play, forcing Riot Games to nerf him and balance him into a healthy state.

Zilean’s strength against Tahm Kench comes primarily from his ability to slow the enemy down. As a naturally immobile champion, Zilean’s slow will only make Tahm Kench an easier target for the team to shut down. On top of that, Zilean can abuse Tahm Kench during the laning phase with the use of bombs.

If you prefer playing melee champions, then we recommend Taric. The gem boy has a lot of tools to protect his allies from Tahm Kench, including a stun and heals. For a champion like Tahm Kench, having to deal with Taric in the bot lane matchup is troublesome, to say the least.
Just like Taric, Braum is also a great alternative if you’re looking for a peeling champion. He can stop Tahm Kench’s aggression with his passive or crowd controls, preventing him from getting any closer to other allies. While Tahm Kench scales more, Braum usually compensates that with better teamfighting potential.
Karma is one of the support champions designed to bring lane pressure through constant poke and harass. That said, this strategy won’t work against Tahm Kench since he’s quite tanky and the damage he receives will only tickle him. This gets even worse as he gains more and more health with the items, allowing him to face tank everything.

Similar to Karma, Tahm Kench is one of the best supports at tanking incoming poke and harass. And thanks to his passive, Tahm Kench can heal up most of the damage taken, effectively nullifying Ashe’s strength. Unless you get countered in champion select, don’t pick Ashe against Tahm.

The three best counters are Zilean, Taric, and Braum. Other strong counters are Neeko, Bard, and Swain.
Nautilus doesn’t really counter Tahm Kench since the latter is far too tanky to take down thanks to his passive and shield. That said, Nautilus can lock Tahm Kench quite easily with the passive and abilities, making it easy for your teammates to shut him down. You have to understand whether you have the damage to kill Tahm Kench without wasting too many resources to know whether it’s worth.
