Best Thresh counters in LoL
If you have little clue on how to deal with Thresh, there are his best counters for this LoL season to beat him more often.
Thresh counters in LoL – the top three picks
Thresh is one of the most popular champions in the game. His versatility and satisfying gameplay makes him a delight to play. More often that not, you will be bound to find him in your ranked games. To that end, we have listed the best Thresh counters so you always know what to play to increase your chances of victory.
If you’re fairly new to the game, check out our guide on how counter picks work in League of Legends. You will understand why counter picks are important, and how you need to take advantage of them to increase your win rate. Make sure to also understand how classes counter one another in LoL so you always know what to pick in each game.
Rakan – the evergreen counter
The most common counter used against Thresh is none other than Rakan. His ability to get in-and-out of trades and skirmishes as well as mobility makes it hard for the enemy support to lock him down. And even if that happens, Rakan can easily disrupt that with his own ultimate. Only a great Thresh player can make this matchup more balanced than it seems.

Rell – too much crowd control
If Thresh excels at finding one target, then Rell is able to lock down an entire team. Her tankiness makes it extremely difficult for Thresh to deal with, and forcing plays on her or her allies can backfire given Rell’s crowd control and shield-breaking ability with her Q.
Braum – the warden is here
Braum is often considered a great Thresh counter thanks to his ability to block projectiles such as Thresh Q (and even the lantern) but also provide crowd controls with his passive and ultimate, disrupting the enemy support’s positioning during the skirmishes and teamfights.
Worst Thresh counters
Yuumi – the worst matchup
If you like playing Yuumi, then be aware of Thresh. The main issue with this matchup is Thresh’s ability to hook and apply crowd controls to enemies which are usually buffed by Yuumi. This means that if Thresh manages to lock down the target, he’s essentially also getting Yuumi as well. And once she is caught, there is no way for her to get away.

Karma – a bad choice
While Karma has the better hand in the first part of the laning phase thanks to her poke and bigger range, all Thresh needs to do is land one hook to kill Karma. Once grabbed, there won’t be much she can do to get away. Later in the game, she will be highly vulnerable to Thresh’s engage attempt since he will be able to tank most of the incoming damage.

Does Rakan counter Thresh?
Rakan is considered a Thresh in most of the matchups. That said, a part of the matchup is dictated by the two ADCs that are siding the two supports. Nonetheless, Rakan is more mobile and offers better engage potential compared to Thresh, who, however, has better picking potential.
