Vayne is renowned for her high mobility and devastating late-game carry potential. As one of the premier marksmen in the game, she is incredibly tough to deal with in the hands of skilled players. To counter her effectively, it’s essential to understand which picks are effective against her: here are the best three Vayne counters in the meta.

Kog’Maw – the meta counter

Kog’Maw long-range poke and higher DPS allow him to get the upper hand over Vayne. Both champions don’t pose much threat to one another early on, meaning that the two can scale safely to the later stages of the game. That said, Kog’Maw will scale harder: unless he gets caught at the start of a fight, he will be the stronger carry.

Aphelios – the lane counter

Aphelios has similar DPS levels to Vayne but has a much more versatile kit early on thanks to his various weapons. He can harass Vayne with his Calibrum and match Vayne’s DPS with the white gun (Crescendum). A great Aphelios player will try to leverage his better laning phase to build a significant gold gap and reach the item spikes faster.

Draven – the early game bully

If the two former choices also scaled as hard as Vayne, Draven is the exact opposite. He can abuse his axes to deal massive damage to Vayne in the early stages of the game. She will never be in a position to match that damage and will almost certainly fall behind in farm and experience. If Draven happens to pick up a kill and get a bounty from his passive, he will snowball hard and take over the game to secure victory.

Senna – The Vulnerable Marksman

As an immobile marksman, Senna struggles against the mobility and burst potential of Vayne. The latter can dodge most of Senna’s skill shots and she will beat her thanks to the higher DPS. When facing Vayne, it’s best to avoid picking Senna and opt for a more mobile or durable ADC instead.

Twitch – The Fragile Marksman

Similar to Senna, Twitch’s lack of mobility leaves him vulnerable to Vayne’s aggressive playstyle. Thanks to her high late-game damage and dueling potential, Vayne can get into a position to quickly shut down the enemy ADC. Twitch will be too chunked by the time he tries to fight back.

How do you counter Vayne with the items?

When going up against Vayne, it’s recommended to stack a mix of armor and HP. Below is a list of items to build you should consider, based on the class of champion you’re playing:
