EMEA Masters Summer Split 2024 – 60 teams, 1 winner

After receiving feedback from the League of Legends community, Riot Games decided to bring significant tweaks to the format.

The first and most important change is the expansion of the number of participants: a total of 60 teams will be able to take part in EMEA Masters, giving both teams and players a chance to prove their worth on the international stage.

As a result, Riot Games increased the number of slots given to every single ERL. On top of that, the new format will see the introduction of a Swiss stage, similar to the one used at Worlds last year that replaced the previous Group stage format. The Swiss stage is known for increasing the volatility but also the stakes of the matches since teams with the same score will be clashing against one another.

EMEA Masters Summer 2024 – Slot distribution

In the revamped format, each accredited ERL will receive six slots: the top three will gain direct entry to the Swiss Stage while the remaining three teams will have to through the Last Chance Qualifiers (LCQ). Non-accredited ERLs, instead, will secure four slots.

Last Chance Qualifiers

The Last Chance Qualifiers will take place between July 31 and August 2. It will be the competition to determine which of the four teams will join the Swiss stage and the main event of the EMEA Masters. There will be regional protection to avoid internal conflicts, with Bo3 in the first rounds and a Bo5 to determine the qualification for the Swiss stage.

Swiss Stage

The Swiss Stage will kick off on August 5 and go until August 13. A total of 32 teams will take part in this stage (28 direct qualifications and 4 teams from the LCQ).

Teams to secure four wins will advance to playoffs while the teams with four losses will be eliminated. All matches are going to be Bo1 except qualification and elimination rounds where the Bo3 format will be used. The participants to the Swiss Stage are:
