G2 vs FNC – Who is taking it all?
G2 have been the dominant force in the LEC in 2024. Their qualification to MSI was already confirmed in Winter, so the team was willing to take more risks and try out new things in game. Despite having a rather “weak” regular Spring Split, they put gas on the pedal once Playoffs were around.
While not everything worked out as they might have expected, the team always showed up when it mattered. Above all things, G2 have found Caps as their key player this split who is also averaging incredible numbers (9.8 KDA, just to make an example).
Fnatic’s path has been a lot more twisted. They came out first in the regular split but was quickly sent in the lower bracket following their loss to G2 in the second round of playoffs.
With backs against the wall, FNC fought its way into the final, managing to reverse sweep Team BDS in the losers’ bracket and securing a spot at MSI. It’s building up to be a great run for the British organization but given how things stand, it might just end here.

Predictions and Match-up Favorites
If we take a look at the player stats and records this split, G2 are definitely favored in the final. They have better players individually across almost every single role and their flexibility allows them to often get an edge. FNC also just came out of an exhausting Bo5 with BDS, and exhaustion may be a factor.
Everything is pointing towards a G2 win. I don’t think it will be as easy as it was last time the two met in playoffs: whether it’s longer games or taking one game, FNC will be able to prove why they deserved to be the second team going to MSI.
That being said, we know that the analysis doesn’t always end up being correct, especially given that stage time can have a positive influence on players’ performances. FNC played a lot during the past week and have been able to overcome hurdles. While they do look messy at times, they have always been relying on their excellent late-game teamfighting to win games.
With plenty of caveats, I can see FNC reigning over G2 this split. It won’t be easy though, given that it requires the Noah and Jun to consistently hold Hans Sama and Mikyx in the laning phase but it’s the only way to make it work. Additionally, Humanoid will have the big task of managing Caps.
