LCP relegation tournament explained
Following the merger of the minor regions across the entire LoL esports ecosystem, the newly formed LCP has implemented a relegation tournament that applies to Guest teams in order to guarantee a higher competitive level in the region. The four partner teams (CTBC Flying Oyster, TALON, GAM Esports, and Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS) are exempted from these.
For the 2025 season, the four guest teams are Chiefs Esports Club, DetonatioN FocusMe, Secret Whales, and Vikings Esports. According to the rules, two guest teams will be selected (teams that qualify for Worlds will be exempted).
The lowest placed guest team will be selected to contest for the Free-for-All (Guest spot) while the second guest team will be selected to participate in the Promotion for the Regional Merit slot and will not be contesting for the FFA slot.
In the promotion tournament, the domestic leagues, including LJL, PCS, OCE, and VC,S will be competing alongside the winner of the wildcard team which includes the Legends Ascend South Asia winner to decide the guest teams for the upcoming 2026 LCP season.
